I’m excited for the opportunity to represent you as County Commissioner District 2. My family moved to Newton County in 1976, when I was 7 years old, and have enjoyed living here since. I attended the Newton County school system and graduated Newton County High School in 1987.
My wife Christine and I met here when we were in high school and were married in 1990. While we have worked all around the Atlanta area, we maintained our home in Covington. We have been members of Canaan Baptist Church for 30+ years. I am a Mainframe System Programmer and Chris is a tutor.
I am running for County Commissioner to address the development, public safety, and quality of life concerns that I see in Newton County. The sudden growth of the county has been quick and has had both positive and negative effects on our County and specifically District 2. I promise to do everything within my power to make responsible decisions based on these concerns.
In the past 15 years, Newton County has grown. However, this growth has been poorly managed. The current commissioner has failed to seize the opportunities given to improve the conditions of our district. Our South West portion of Newton county has been overdeveloped without consideration for infrastructure or the concerns of long-time residents. That’s where I come in. It's time for someone new. Someone who has lived in this district for 30 years. District 2 deserves someone who will listen and make decisions with your concerns in mind.
As your County Commissioner I plan to:
Address Public Safety Concerns
Improve Cleanliness and Quality of Life
Protect our Economic Interests
Ensure Smart Managed Growth
Transparency and Accountability of Leaders
Promote Inclusive Government that Represents Everyone
